Ontario Catholic Secondary School, St. Josephs, made headlines for banning rainbows because they are too closely associated with Gay Pride. Cue my confused face. I can only imagine how sad our dear friend Nyan Cat is right now…
From my experience, this inability to keep up and adapt with the times turned me off of Catholicism; it practices intolerance while preaching against it. IMHO.
Xtra reports: “St. Joseph Catholic Secondary School allowed its unofficial gay-straight alliance (official GSAs are banned) to hold an anti-homophobia event, but then prohibited all rainbow banners and posters.”
In a beautiful retaliation, the students p0wned their leaders by baking rainbows into the cupcakes and laying them out to look like a rainbow flag.
